The fine increases to at least $250 for this violation. Again, you are not required to attend traffic court unless you choose to fight the speeding ticket.

Speeding at 30 mph to 49 mph beyond the posted speed limit –

This is a much more serious speeding violation. If you receive a speeding ticket for traveling at 30 to 49 miles per hour over the posted speed limit it is mandatory that you pay the fine and that you either appear in court or have an attorney present to represent you. At this time, the judge determines how much the fine against you will be if you are found guilty. You will again get four (4) points against your license, and you face a possible license suspension should you fail to appear in court.

Speeding at 50 mph or more miles per hour beyond the posted speed limit –

When it comes to speeding, this is, for the most part, the coup de grace for your driving record because this is the most serious speeding violation. Again a mandatory court appearance is necessary, and if you are convicted of this speeding violation, you can receive a fine of up to $1,000 for your first offense. A second offense can warrant a fine of up to $2,500, and a third offense can result in a fine of up to $5,000 and the revocation of your driver’s license for up to ten (10) years.

Although some of these speeding violation penalties seem very similar, the greater the speeding infraction and the frequency with which you may receive speeding tickets can have a bearing on the fines and penalties you receive.
