NegotiatorOther than a stellar, unique product, there are very few things that can promote a person, business, or concept like a clever marketing campaign. Since ancient man moved from subsistence farming to trading his extra products or services in exchange for those things that he lacked, the skill of a good pitch man has been integral to the success of any business. There are hundreds of catch phrases that instill certain images or ideas in our minds. When we think about the words “Where’s the beef” or “Save 15% in 15 minutes,” we know exactly what those things refer to, which is indicative of a highly successful advertising strategy. One such catch phrase that has seen tremendous commercial success is “The Negotiator.” Now, that may bring to mind something much different than defending your Broward County speeding ticket, however, it is something that you may need to keep in mind if you find yourself facing the stiff fines and penalties that can arise from a simple speeding citation.

There are more than 40 million people in the United States who get speeding tickets every year, and in Broward County alone, more than 100,500 speeding tickets were issued in 2013. Statistics show that only five percent of these drivers actually fight their speeding tickets. They just send in the fine and suffer the consequences. At $200 to $500 per citation, the profit margin that this action provides Broward County averages in the tens of millions of dollars. This is just what the city, county, and state make off of your misfortune. When you factor in how much businesses like traffic schools and insurance companies make from luckless drivers who may be speeding simply due to a moment of inattention, the income from speeding tickets becomes overwhelming.

Of course, when it comes to speeding tickets, the cost increase is greatly dependent upon what your speed is when the cop clocks you regardless of whether he is using radar, lidar, air patrol, or pacing. Here are the financial and other penalties that you can expect to face if you get a Broward County speeding ticket:

Speeding at 15 mph or less than the posted speed limit –

This offense carries a fine which can often be found on the back of your speeding ticket and three (3) points will appear on your driving record. They will remain there for three years and you can also expect a fine of $200 or more. Although it is not required that you attend traffic court, you can do so if you choose to fight the speeding ticket or you also may be able to elect to go to driving school.

Speeding at 16 mph to 29 mph over the posted speed limit –

As with the previous offense, being cited for driving 16 or more miles per hour over the speed limit will result in a fine, but you will get four (4) points on your license which will also remain there for three (3) years. The fine increases to at least $250 for this violation. Again, you are not required to attend traffic court unless you choose to fight the speeding ticket.

Speeding at 30 mph to 49 mph beyond the posted speed limit –

This is a much more serious speeding violation. If you receive a speeding ticket for traveling at 30 to 49 miles per hour over the posted speed limit it is mandatory that you pay the fine and that you either appear in court or have an attorney present to represent you. At this time, the judge determines how much the fine against you will be if you are found guilty. You will again get four (4) points against your license, and you face a possible license suspension should you fail to appear in court.

Speeding at 50 mph or more miles per hour beyond the posted speed limit –

When it comes to speeding, this is, for the most part, the coup de grace for your driving record because this is the most serious speeding violation. Again a mandatory court appearance is necessary, and if you are convicted of this speeding violation, you can receive a fine of up to $1,000 for your first offense. A second offense can warrant a fine of up to $2,500, and a third offense can result in a fine of up to $5,000 and the revocation of your driver’s license for up to ten (10) years.

Although some of these speeding violation penalties seem very similar, the greater the speeding infraction and the frequency with which you may receive speeding tickets can have a bearing on the fines and penalties you receive. Many times drivers assume that they have a pretty good driving record, not realizing the snowball effect that multiple traffic tickets can have upon how a driving record is perceived by the court system. If you look like a habitual speeder to a judge he or she is much less likely to be swayed by any argument you may present. Being found guilty or “pleading” guilty by just paying the speeding ticket provides all the justification that insurance companies need to legally raise your rates.

This is why you need your own negotiator and should hire a good traffic ticket attorney. Of course we always try to get your traffic ticket dismissed, but if we can’t you want a great lawyer in your corner. When standing in front of a judge, speeding tickets are often more about how to negotiate a traffic ticket by either getting it dismissed or having the fines and penalties reduced. Even those of you who have outstanding negotiation skills in your chosen field may find yourself unsuccessful in trying to navigate your way through the traffic court system. Cops and judges appear in court every day, so this is where they do some of their best work. However, unlike the Traffic Ticket Team, it is not the only thing that they do. That is what makes us the best negotiators for your speeding ticket. That’s it; that’s all we do, but it is a service that can prove to be invaluable to the person who finds themselves with a traffic ticket. Our attorneys focus ONLY in representing drivers who get speeding or other traffic tickets. Call us for a free consultation at 954-967-9888.
